The Yarmouth Railhead Photo Album All the pictures on this page can be clicked to show more details Back in 1998 to 2001, Spandlers operated the Great Yarmouth railhead, made possible from a £60,000 grant from the Rail Facilities Grant. Sadly, the experimental service was uneconomic but the handling facilities are available for other uses. | Road Access: The Great Yarmouth Rail-head is situated on the strategic A47 trunk route from Great Yarmouth to the Midlands. The A47 is a designated Trans European Network and access to the terminal is via a new Highways Agency-designed access-spur. | | | Road to Rail Transfers: Back in 1999, Spandlers loaded nearly a train per day during the busy fertiliser season [July-October & Jan-April] for parent company J & H Bunn Ltd using a combination of JCB teleporters and Volvo diggers | | | More Photos of Freight Traffic: Although fertiliser traffic in and out of Great Yarmouth forms the majority of the rail freight, other traffic can be easily handled |
